Angela Tate, PT, PhD, Cert MDT Angela Tate
PT, PhD, Cert MDT

Angela is the Clinical Director of H/S therapy and is the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education. Angela graduated summa cum laude from Thomas Jefferson University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She then received a Master of Science degree in the Orthopedic Physical Therapy track from Temple University and recently earned a PhD in Physical Therapy from Temple University. Angela received a grant from the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic Section, for her doctoral research, which was on shoulder pathology in athletes. She has presented her research at the University of Pennsylvania’s Shoulder and Elbow Update 2006 and at the American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Section Meeting in Boston in February, 2007. She has recently presented Scapula Dysfunction: Assessment and Management at the 2008 Philadelphia Meeting of Surgery and Rehabilitation of the Hand. Her original research article “Effect of the Scapula Reposition Test on Shoulder Impingement Symptoms and Elevation Strength in Overhead Athletes” was published in January 2008 in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. She has two additional articles on classifying shoulder movement patterns that have been accepted by the Journal of Athletic Training and are pending publication.

Angela is an associate faculty member of Arcadia University where she teaches graduate Physical Therapy students. In addition, Angela is the lead coordinator for a 5 state multi-center trial investigating the effectiveness of rehabilitation for shoulder impingement syndrome. The goal of this research is to determine who will most benefit from physical therapy for shoulder impingement as opposed to other interventions such as surgery. Angela’s areas of expertise are in treating those with disorders of the spine, knee, and those with shoulder or arm pathology. She currently leads a research team investigating shoulder pain in athletes who are involved in sports requiring repeated overhead activity, such as swimming. Angela is certified in the Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of Spinal Disorders from the McKenzie Institute, USA.

Angela has also lectured at Drexel University, Widener University and Temple University. Angela is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. She was elected to the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association Research Committee in 2008. She has presented at both local and national Physical Therapy conferences on the topics of clinical education and the shoulder, and was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association’s 2002 Research Award.

Angela is married with 2 teenage girls. She likes to run, swim, and do yoga.


Julie D. Sergio, MSPT Julie D. Sergio
MSPT

Julie D. Sergio, MSPT joined H/S Therapy Associates part-time in June of 2003. She studied Health Science at James Madison University in Virginia and went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Psychology in 1998 from Beaver College (now Arcadia University). She then proceeded to earn a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Beaver College in 2000. Julie is a licensed Pennsylvania Direct Access Physical Therapist. She has a special interest in gymnastics as she had been a Level 9 competitive gymnast. Julie resides in Horsham with her husband, Steve, 2 sons and 1 daughter.

 


Barrie Barrie Greenberg
DPT

Barrie Greenberg, DPT, joined the H/S team in May 2008 after receiving her Doctor of Physicial Therapy from Arcadia University. Barrie received her bachelors degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Lehigh University in 2005, where she graduated suma cum laude.  Barrie was a Division 1 lacrosse player at Lehigh, which is where her love for physical fitness and rehabilitation really developed.  Barrie also works in a Level 1 trama hspital in Philadlephia where she has experience treating patients with a wide array of medical conditions, including but not limited to cardiopulmonary, orthopedic, neurological, and post surgical.  Barrie resides in Lafayette Hill with her husband Rob. She enjoys exercising and spending time with her family and friends.
